Entire Canada went crazy when they heard the news that cannabis is legal in the country now. Now you can’t walk a mile without running into a cannabis store in Toronto. These cannabis stores have been like a breath of (ahem) fresh air. With many countries, including our neighbour, having a different stance of them, it seemed like a win for Canada. Forward to 2021 when the country, especially Ontario, is changing zone colours more frequently than a traffic light. Now the government is deciding which industry or which section, sector and store is deemed ‘essential’ or not. And of course, how can cannabis not be in the conversation. After all, it’s made its mark here. While the zone colours will keep changing (and hopefully for the better), the real question is that “isn’t cannabis essential?!”. If alcohol is essential, that what have legal cannabis stores done to be in this essential and non-essential debate?
